Consultation Services

My grants and contracts have largely pertained to research on the Psychology of Body Image and Physical Appearance. Much of this work pertains to the assessment of the psychosocial effects of appearance-altering conditions (e.g., hair loss, acne, pectus excavatum, lupus erythematosus, focal adiposity, etc.) and their treatment. In particular, I consult on the development and validation of patient assessments (e.g., body image, treatment expectations, and treatment outcomes) for the scientific purposes of:

  1. Understanding the psychosocial impact of appearance-altering conditions
    (e.g.,
on body image and quality of life).
  2. Evaluating the Patient Reported Outcomes of medical/surgical/psychosocial treatments of these conditions
    (e.g., in
    clinical trials).
